Entering the sauna area with street shoes is forbidden; it can only be used with bath slippers. For the sake of other guests, please refrain from disturbing cleanliness, safety, and rest (e.g., shouting, singing, whistling, making phone calls, etc.). Please dispose of trash in the designated bins.
Any extraordinary events (such as personal injuries, feeling unwell, presence of dangerous equipment or objects) should be reported to the staff immediately! - Sauna Etiquette
- LEAVE YOUR SLIPPERS OUTSIDE THE SAUNA
Leave your slippers outside the sauna. Most are made from plastic and are glued. At the average temperature of 90 ⁰C in the sauna, these synthetic materials dissolve and evaporate.
- WEARING A SWIMSUIT IS MANDATORY
Please do not forego wearing a swimsuit, even though this is acceptable in countries further west from us.
- ENTER WITH A DRY BODY AND TEXTILES
Many do not attach importance to having a dry body and textiles, but it's crucial for achieving the right climate to have a dry body, swimsuit, and towel in order to not cool down the sauna area and ourselves. This way, we can better achieve sweating and thus detoxification.
- ALWAYS LAY A TOWEL UNDER YOURSELF
For your own and others' sake, it is very important to sit on a towel for hygienic reasons, and it should be laid out so that it is under your feet as well. This prevents sweat from dripping onto the bench.
- IT IS INAPPROPRIATE AND UNHYGIENIC TO BRING BOOKS AND PRINTED PRESS INTO THE SAUNA
Although newspapers and books are no longer printed with lead, it is still unhealthy to bring newspapers into the warm environment because of the volatile ink. Moreover, they have a smell.
- MAINTAIN A SUFFICIENT DISTANCE
Settle and position yourself so that your sweat does not drip onto your sauna companions. If the sauna is too crowded, it is worth stepping out and waiting until space is freed up for you.
- EATING AND DRINKING IN THE SAUNA AREA IS INAPPROPRIATE
In addition to being unhygienic to bring food and drink, it may disturb your sauna companions. It can also be dangerous and can cause faintness during the sauna session.
- REFRAIN FROM USING STRONGLY SCENTED COSMETICS AND PERFUMES
Due to strong evaporation, cosmetics we have on our body will also evaporate more intensely in the heat. A cleansing shower is recommended before the sauna session.
- KEEP NOISE TO A MINIMUM
Even if you are not participating in a Sauna Ceremony, be mindful of your volume and that of your conversation partner. Loud talking or boisterous behavior is inappropriate and may disturb other sauna-goers.
- EXCLUDE POLITICS, RELIGION
It is inappropriate to discuss religion, politics, or other tension-inducing topics in the sauna and sauna area.
- USE THE PLUNGE POOL ONLY AFTER SHOWERING
For your own and others' sake, use the plunge pool only after washing off your sweat. The rapid constriction of skin pores caused by cold water expels toxins.
- SUBMERGE YOURSELF IN THE PLUNGE POOL; DO NOT JUMP
Jumping into the plunge pool is dangerous for several reasons. Additionally, the splashing water and noise may disturb your resting sauna companions.
Thank you for adhering to our etiquette!
- LEAVE YOUR SLIPPERS OUTSIDE THE SAUNA
- Guidelines for Sauna Use
Shower before using the sauna.
It is advisable to use a towel or seat cover in the sauna.
Always allocate enough time for sauna sessions. Do not spend more than 5-15 minutes in the sauna at one time; if comfortable, you can repeat this two or three times.
After sauna use, shower with lukewarm or warm water to avoid sudden pore contraction and the associated unpleasant post-sweating.
Between sauna sessions, take a cold or lukewarm shower and rest for 5-15 minutes.
After sauna sessions, spend at least 15-20 minutes resting and relaxing. This allows the body to replenish the lost fluid amounts (necessary: 0.5-1 liter) and return to normal temperature.
In a "NO INFUSION" sauna, please refrain from infusions!
Never forget the sauna’s motto:
"Enjoy Yourself," which means if everyone tailors their sauna habits to their own experiences and needs, then sauna sessions always provide refreshment and physical and mental relaxation. - Supervisory Staff
Observing official regulations is necessary for safety, cleanliness, avoiding damages, and your comfort; therefore, if the sauna staff needs to carry out any measures, we ask for your understanding. For these reasons, please always comply with the instructions of the sauna staff. In the case of violations, the sauna staff are authorized to caution the individual involved or ban them from the sauna area. In such cases, no refund of the ticket price is possible.
- Malfunction, Operational Failure
Please note that for safety reasons, in the event of technical malfunction or operational failure, the bath may suspend the operation of the saunas and steam cabins, or parts of them. In such cases, we are unable to provide compensation.
Sóstó - Gyógyfürdők Zrt. wishes you a pleasant time!
