Sauna Etiquette
1. LEAVE YOUR SLIPPERS OUTSIDE THE SAUNA
Leave your slippers outside the sauna. Most slippers are made of plastic and glued. At the average sauna temperature of 90⁰C, these synthetic materials will leach and evaporate.
2. SWIMSUIT USE IS MANDATORY
Please do not forgo wearing a swimsuit, even though it may be accepted in countries further west than ours.
3. ALWAYS PLACE A TOWEL UNDER YOURSELF
For hygiene reasons, it is very important for your own and others' sake to sit on a towel, ensuring it is spread out so it is under your feet as well. This prevents sweat from dripping onto the bench.
4. IT IS NOT APPROPRIATE OR HYGIENIC TO BRING BOOKS OR PRINTED MEDIA INTO THE SAUNA
Although newspapers and books are now printed without lead, it is still unhealthy to bring them because of the ink vapors in the heat, and they also have an odor.
5. MAINTAIN PROPER DISTANCE
Position yourself so that your sweat does not drip onto other sauna-goers. If the sauna is too crowded, it's advisable to leave and wait until there is space available for you.
6. EATING AND DRINKING IN THE SAUNA AREA IS NOT APPROPRIATE
Besides being unhygienic to bring food and drink, it may disturb other sauna-goers. It can also be dangerous, unhealthy, and may lead to illness during the sauna session. Consuming alcohol in the entire sauna area, including the salt cave, is prohibited!
7. AVOID USING STRONGLY SCENTED COSMETICS AND PERFUMES
Due to intense evaporation in the heat, the cosmetics on us also evaporate more intensely. A cleansing shower is recommended before sauna use.
8. KEEP NOISE LEVELS DOWN
If you are not attending a Sauna Program, please be mindful of your volume with your conversation partner. Loud talking or boisterous behavior is inappropriate and may disturb other sauna-goers.
9. AVOID DISCUSSING POLITICS AND RELIGION
It is not appropriate to discuss religion, politics, or any other potentially uncomfortable topics in the sauna or sauna area.
10. ONLY USE THE PLUNGE POOL AFTER SHOWERING
For your own and others' sake, use the plunge pool only after rinsing off your sweat. Due to the effects of the cold water, the suddenly contracting pores will also expel impurities.
11. ENTER THE PLUNGE POOL GENTLY, DO NOT JUMP IN
Jumping into the plunge pool is dangerous for several reasons. Additionally, it disturbs those relaxing outside the sauna with splashing water and loud noise.
Thank you for observing our etiquette, we wish you an enjoyable sauna experience!
